In the span of the last two years, Kashi Vishwanath Dham has experienced an extraordinary influx of devotees, setting a new record with over 13 crore visitors, including 16,000 international pilgrims. Sunil Verma, the Chief Executive Officer of Kashi Vishwanath Dham and Special Area Development Authority, revealed that from December 13, 2021, to December 6, 2023, an impressive 15,930 foreign devotees have booked to partake in the seamless darshan of the revered Vishwanath Temple.
The revitalized Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 13, 2021, has played a pivotal role in attracting an unprecedented number of pilgrims. The site has become a magnet for spiritual seekers, drawing both domestic and international visitors in remarkable numbers.
Sunil Verma emphasized the growing interest, noting that bookings for 2023 have nearly doubled compared to the previous year. This surge indicates a significant rise in enthusiasm for the spiritual experience offered at Kashi, both on a national and global scale.
Religious tourism has seen a substantial increase, with a record-breaking 12 crore 92 lakh 24 thousand people visiting from December 13, 2021, to December 6, 2023, as reported by the CEO. The chronological progression of devotee numbers is noteworthy, with 40 in December 2021, 4540 between January 1, 2022, to December 31, 2022, and a significant leap to 11,350 between January 1, 2023, to December 6, 2023.
Kashi Vishwanath Dham has transformed into a spiritual epicenter, witnessing an unparalleled surge in footfall. The Yogi government’s commitment to enhancing the pilgrimage experience has not only captured national attention but has also positioned the sacred site as a global destination for spiritual tourism.
