Day 1 box office receipts in the Kingdom: Vijay Deverakonda’s spy drama opened with a huge Rs 15.75 crore haul. It has already outperformed his 2022 picture Kushi’s first-day box office results.
Kingdom Box Office Day 1: Deverakonda Scores Big with ₹15.75 Cr Opening — Bigger Than Kushi, Short of Liger
Day 1 box office receipts for Kingdom: On July 31, Vijay Deverakonda’s much awaited spy-action movie debuted in theaters across several languages. The movie made 15.75 crore at the box office on its first day of release, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. It has already exceeded the actor’s 2022 movie Kushi’s first-day box office receipts (Rs 15.25 cr). However, the film Liger (Rs 15.95 cr), which was poorly received by reviewers and ultimately failed at the box office, was somewhat better than Kingdom’s opening.
According to Sacnilk, Kingdom’s Telugu-language total occupancy rate on Thursday was 57.87%, with morning performances accounting for 63.56%, afternoon shows for 56.52%, evening programs for 50.12%, and night shows for 61.27%. At 88%, the Warangal area had the highest theater occupancy rate.
Despite collecting Rs 15.75 crore on its first day at the box office, Kingdom is just a hair behind Liger, Deverakonda’s biggest opening, which is starring Ananya Panday. On its first day, the movie made Rs 15.95 crore. Saiyaara, a huge popular film directed by Mohit Suri, is another fierce rival of Kingdom. The movie, which stars debutants Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, has already made over Rs 270 crore at the box office. Mahavatar Narsimha and Pawan Kalyan’s Hari Hara Veera Mallu: Part 1 are two more films that have been released in theaters. August 1 is also the release date for Ajay Devgn’s Son of Sardaar 2, Tripti Dimri, and the Siddhant Chaturvedi film Dhadak 2.
“There’s a tangible quest for glory around us right now that has come to define the modern theatrical experience as an escape, sans the sense of leisure one always sought from it,” said an excerpt from Business Connect Magazine review of Kingdom. Gowtam Tinnanuri’s latest film is frenzied and chaotic in its attempt to dazzle us, and it ends up feeling a little worn out from the strain of its own ambition. This part of the tale is expertly set up by Gowtam Tinnanuri.
In the movie Kingdom, Vijay Deverakonda portrays Surya Suri, a former police officer who is now a spy and has to save his long-lost brother, a smuggler, in war-torn Sri Lanka. Bhagyashri Borse, Satya Dev, and Ayyappa P Sharma play important parts in the Gowtam Tinnanuri-directed film, which is also funded by Sithara Entertainments, Srikara Studios, and Fortune Four Cinemas.
Vijay Deverakonda’s much-anticipated Telugu action-drama Kingdom, co-starring Rashmika Mandanna, kicked off its box office journey with an impressive worldwide gross of ₹15.75 crore on Day 1. The film, released on August 1, 2025, opened to packed theaters across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and key overseas markets, surpassing Deverakonda’s previous hit Kushi in terms of opening day numbers, though falling short of his all-time high Liger.
According to GreatAndhra, Kingdom witnessed solid occupancy in Telugu-speaking regions, fueled by Vijay’s mass appeal and Rashmika’s star power. The film earned approximately ₹10.2 crore gross in India and ₹5.5 crore overseas, bringing its worldwide first-day total to ₹15.75 crore.
The estimated budget of Kingdom is around ₹60–65 crore, making it a moderately high-stakes project. If the current momentum continues over the weekend, the film could comfortably cross its break-even point within the first week.
Critically, Kingdom has received mixed-to-positive reviews. Telugu portal GreatAndhra Telugu praised the film’s emotional depth, action sequences, and the sizzling chemistry between Vijay and Rashmika. The direction and music also earned appreciation, though some critics felt the second half dragged slightly.
With solid fan support, strong advance bookings, and word-of-mouth building, Kingdom appears poised to dominate the box office in its opening weekend. The film’s next few days will be crucial in determining whether it turns into a full-fledged blockbuster.
