By Anurag Tiwari

With the premiere of his latest action film, Deva, Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor will make his big-screen comeback after over a year away. Review and live updates for the film Deva: Shahid Kapoor’s film is off to a slow start at the box office

The narrative, which is set in the busy metropolis of Mumbai, emphasizes both the city’s natural beauty and its edgy undertones. The film’s ensemble supporting cast, which includes Pavail Gulati, Pravesh Rana, Girish Kulkarni, Kubbra Sait, and Aditi Sandhya Sharma, is led by Pooja Hegde.

Fans have compared the two characters since Deva is based on Shahid’s Kabir Singh. “It’s an aggressive character, but Deva is very Deva—there is no Kabir Singh in it,” the actor said in a media release. Additionally, Deva is unlike any other character. ‘Oh! Is he like Tommy Singh in Udta Punjab?’, people would question before Kabir Singh.

Leading lady Pooja Hegde, meanwhile, explained why she agreed to the movie: “You like the character occasionally, and sometimes you want to work with the filmmaker. As an actor, I have made the decision to do parts that bring me joy. I thought the character in Deva was great,” she stated in a statement.

The movie’s original release date of October 11, 2024 (Dussehra) was rescheduled for February 14, 2025 (Valentine’s Day). The release date was eventually moved up by the producers, who decided deva movie release date on January 31, 2025.

Deva is expected to start slowly at the box office, earning an estimated Rs 5–10 crore on its first day of release. Trade analysts predict that the film’s overall receipts, including block bookings, will total about Rs 3.5 crore, while advance ticket sales would likely total about Rs 1.7 crore.

It remains to be seen if the movie will be able to surpass Rs 10 crore on its first day of release. According to trade observers, Deva will mostly rely on word-of-mouth to build momentum and have a successful first weekend.

Jakes Bejoy wrote the soundtrack for the movie, which includes songs by Vishal Mishra. Amit Roy is in charge of cinematography, and A. Sreekar Prasad is in charge of editing.

  • Did you know that the director of “Deva” didn’t provide his actors the script for the finale scene?

With Shahid Kapoor and Pooja Hegde playing the key parts, the conclusion of the forthcoming movie “Deva” has a fascinating backstory.

According to a production source, the director wanted the performers to be intrigued and curious about what would happen next, therefore they did not provide them the script for the finale moment. Pavail Gulati and Kubbra Sait also feature in the movie.

Rosshan Andrews, the film’s director, made sure the movie’s climactic sequence remained a total mystery.

“The climax scene was not written in the scripts that were shared with Shahid, Pooja, Kubbra, Pavail, and others,” the insider stated. The filmmaker aimed to instill in the actors the same sense of curiosity and expectation that the audience will have upon the film’s premiere.

Rosshan Andrews made this choice as part of his plan to keep the shoot unexpected and to guarantee that the actors gave sincere, unvarnished performances. The filmmaker wanted to maintain the genuineness of their emotions and increase the excitement of the story by keeping everyone in suspense.

A Deva and an Asur are the two aspects that everyone of us possesses.”People have been telling me for years to make a massy film, a film that connects with the masses,” he said. This persona, created for the people, is the next phase in my journey. For me as an actor, this has been one of the most difficult movies to work on because it is so difficult on so many levels. I don’t want to give away too much, though. You’ll discover that everyone has a Deva when you see it on January 31. • Fans hail Shahid Kapoor’s performance as a “masterpiece” in their review of “Deva” on Twitter.

Shahid Kapoor’s performance in the action movie “Deva” has garnered praise and been called a “absolute banger.” Nonetheless, some viewers have noted that the opening sequence is reminiscent to the Rosshan Andrews-directed Malayalam movie “Mumbai Police.” Discussions over the film’s uniqueness have been triggered by this similarity. In spite of this, ‘Deva’ has maintained audience interest with its gripping narrative and stirring performances.

‘Deva’ has been hailed as a “must-watch” by several people on X (previously Twitter) due to its captivating plot and powerful performances. Early reviews highlight Shahid’s powerful performance as a disobedient police officer, and viewers applaud the film’s exciting action scenes and engaging story. It is regarded by viewers as one of Kapoor’s best performances.

“MASTERPIECE ALERT!” a user said. Rosshan Andrews creates a fantastic action thriller, and Shahid Kapoor gives a performance that defines his career as the ferocious and insane police officer! Deva is a must-watch because of its ferocity.

Another said, “Deva is a fantastic movie, and I love Shahid Kapoor’s action.”

“Undisputed Winner,” a movie buff wrote. A thrilling performance and a powerful climax. Shahid Kapoor did a fantastic job.

“Deva Shahid Kapoor’s artistry carries a depth that resonates with the soul,” another individual said. Every part he plays reveals a different aspect of life, as though he were using film to convey a philosophy. I’m wishing him well with his next movie.

The first Hindi film directed by renowned Malayalam filmmaker Rosshan Andrews is “Deva.” The film, which was produced by Zed Studios and Siddharth Roy Kapur, centers on Shahid’s character, Dev Ambre, a smart but disobedient police officer. He uncovers layers of dishonesty and treachery while looking into a well-known case. Since this is Kapoor’s first time portraying a uniformed police officer, the character has a fresh vitality. In addition to Pooja Hegde, the film has supporting performances from Aditi Sandhya Sharma, Pavail Gulati, Pravessh Rana, Kubbra Sait, and Girish Kulkarni.
