Meta is gearing up to bring its AI-powered Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses to India, marking a significant step in wearable technology for the country’s tech-savvy consumers. Announced on April 23, 2025, the launch is part of a global expansion that includes Mexico and the UAE, with India expected to see the glasses hit the market in the coming weeks.
Developed in collaboration with EssilorLuxottica, the Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses combine iconic Ray-Ban style with cutting-edge features. Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1, the glasses boast a 12MP ultra-wide camera for 1080p video and photos, a five-mic system, and 32GB storage. Users can capture moments hands-free, livestream to Instagram or Facebook, and enjoy music via Spotify, Apple Music, or Amazon Music integration. The standout feature is Meta AI, activated by “Hey Meta,” offering real-time answers, live translation in English, French, Italian, and Spanish (offline with language packs), and contextual insights. New Skyler cat-eye frames and low-bridge Headliner options add style versatility.
While Meta has not confirmed an exact launch date or pricing, the glasses are priced at $299–$379 in the US (approximately ₹25,000–₹32,000). In India, estimates suggest a premium range of ₹35,000–₹40,000 due to import taxes, positioning them as a luxury gadget for early adopters and lifestyle enthusiasts.
With Instagram and WhatsApp integration for seamless messaging and video calls, plus a sleek charging case offering up to 36 hours of use, the glasses promise a hands-free, immersive experience. As Meta prepares to roll out these features, India’s tech community eagerly awaits the debut of this game-changing wearable.
