Protectt.ai To Acquire Controlling Stake In Bosch’s AIShield
Pune/Bengaluru, October 28: Mobile app security startup Protectt.ai is taking a controlling stake in AIShield, an AI security platform incubated within Bosch Global Software Technologies (BGSW). Bosch will keep a minority stake after the transaction.
Deal structure
The Bessemer-backed startup will acquire its majority stake through a deal with both primary and secondary components. The deal value and closing timeline have not been disclosed. Co-founder Manish Mimani said the structure includes cash, a secondary component and ESOPs, with further investment to follow based on the business’s needs.
AIShield to run independently
AIShield will operate as an independent company, AI Shield Private Limited, under Protectt.ai. It will have its own professional management team, with a focus on AI security research and product development. The investment is meant to fund product development, R&D and international expansion.
What AIShield brings
The platform addresses AI security risks such as prompt injection and runtime protection, and serves clients across Europe and the Middle East. It holds more than 40 patent filings, including 11 granted patents.
Why Protectt.ai is doing this
Protectt.ai’s customers include banks, NBFCs, insurers, fintech companies and government platforms in India. The deal links its mobile security business with AI security. The startup had already been researching AI model scanning and AI agent security as part of its product roadmap. Some members of its AI security team will move to AIShield, though the number is not finalised.
Mimani said Protectt.ai plans to work with private companies and government organisations through AIShield to build an India-developed AI security platform.
More deals possible
This is Protectt.ai’s first acquisition since it set up a dedicated M&A team earlier this year. Mimani said the company is evaluating further opportunities and expects to consider raising fresh funds in 2027.
