In an internal communication, Kalli Purie, Vice Chairperson of the India Today Group, acknowledged Kanwal’s contributions, stating, “His career, from a passionate journalist to a News Director, has been nothing short of remarkable, setting an inspiring precedent for aspiring journalists in our organization.”

Kanwal was instrumental in establishing initiatives like the Anti-Fake News War Room (AFWA) and the Open Source Intelligence Desk (OSINT), aimed at combating misinformation. His efforts have been recognized with numerous accolades throughout his career.

Speculation is rife that Kanwal may join NDTV in a senior capacity, following a trend of prominent journalists transitioning to the network after its acquisition by the Adani Group. However, official confirmation of his next move is awaited.

Rahul Kanwal’s departure marks a significant shift in the Indian media landscape, given his extensive experience and influence in the industry.
