ROSSELL TECHSYS

ROSSELL TECHSYS: REDEFINING BENCHMARKS IN THE AEROSPACE AND DEFENSE DOMAIN

Focusing on Rossell Techsys in the new edition of Business Connect, Brand of the Year 2019, the editorial board of the magazine discovered some fresh insights about the company whilst talking with Prabhat Kumar Bhagvandas, the Chief Executive Officer of Rossell.

Please walk us through your company profile and your services.

Rossell Techsys is the Aerospace and Defense (A&D) Division of Rossell India Ltd. Started in 2011 in Bangalore, entrusted to my care, Rossell Techsys has grown into a credible and dependable partner in India for the supply of Interconnect solutions and Electrical Panel assemblies, which go into military platforms of global companies like Boeing and Lockheed Martin. Apart from this, Rossell has developed Line Replaceable Units (LRUs), which meet Aerospace standards and has also provided multiple Automatic Test Equipment (ATEs) to support the needs of customers in India.

Operating from a facility of approximately 87,000 sq. ft. at Whitefield in Bangalore, we have created two ‘Centers of Excellence’ for two of our prestigious customers, providing exclusivity of resources and best-in-class infrastructure and facilities.

In its exciting growth journey, Rossell Techsys has received multiple awards and recognitions.

How important do you feel it is to keep your employees motivated, and how do you ensure it?

It is absolutely essential to create, retain and encourage a highly motivated and capable workforce. Any organization depends on its employees to translate value to its customers. As a company, we believe that Learning and Development goes a long way to increase employee motivation.

Rossell has its own “Rossell School of Learning” (RSL) where staff members are trained and certified to applicable workmanship standards in A&D. Employee engagement─ founded on the principles of employee empowerment─ drives motivation to very high levels. An open-door policy for all encourages Staff to engage in and exchange ideas with the leadership of Rossell. Our Human Capital policies are of global standards, including   5- day work week and flexi-timings in manufacturing.

Who are your clients? How do you build lasting relationship with your clients?

Apart from supporting Indian defense establishments like the IAF, BEL, HAL, and NAL, Rossell Techsys is a trusted and long-term partner for major global companies like Boeing and Lockheed Marin. It gives us a sense of exhilaration when we see our products being used in many military platforms in operation across the world. We provide Build to Print (BTP) and Build to Specifications (BTS) to global OEMs.

It has been crucial for Rossell Techsys to understand customer needs, especially the risk factors involved in moving critical pieces of work from other parts of the world to India. Rossell ─ a company compliant to ISO 31000 ─ mandates that every aspect of risk is addressed to provide a minimal or negligible risk model for such sourcing moves.

This entails addressing capacity in infrastructure, redundancy, people and certifications, processes and automation, project management and mitigation of risk, management of a global supply chain and the assurance of consistent and predictable quality and timely delivery. Rossell feels blessed that all its customers have continued to repose trust and confidence in its overall abilities.

How do you feel you are different from your competitors?

The fundamental philosophy of Rossell is to compete with its own self and to continuously raise the benchmark as it grows.

This unique ethos and commitment to “Finish and Finesse” is the bedrock that defines and applies to all aspects of business such as its operational hygiene, transparency, ethical transactions, focused risk management, technology deployment and green manufacturing (paperless manufacturing). It has been demonstrating the highest levels of performance with its customers. These aspects set higher levels of differentiators that provide customer delight.

As a part of operational hygiene and to demonstrate that we are aligned with the best industry standards on business practices, we have been certified to many standards that are recognized and respected worldwide. These certifications include Aerospace Quality Management Systems (AS 9100), Environment Management System (ISO 14001), Information Security Management System (ISO 27001), Risk Management System (ISO 31000) and Occupational Health and Safety System (ISO 45001). These certifications impart credibility and indicate a higher level of business confidence to global customers.

Rossell Techsysn actively supports the Anti-Counterfeit parts drive; it is a member of ERAI– the global entity that is at the forefront of monitoring, investigating reporting and mitigating counterfeit parts in the Aerospace and Defence global supply chain.

Rossell Techsys started its Aerospace and Defense activities with a single objective of creating a Global company in India, exclusively focused on A&D. Because of the passion to stay committed to A&D, we have consciously kept away from any distractions, including the temptations of adjacent domains which offer probably more attractive and quicker revenue and P/L propositions. Our zeal and focus to deliver high-quality results is vitalized by this passion and focus.

How do you plan to give back to society (CSR, if any)?

Rossell Techsys has been participating in the ‘Skill India’ initiative, undertaken as a part of CSR commitments to raise the nation’s human development index through enhancing vocational skills aligned to the Aerospace and Defense industry. This has been a hugely successful endeavor conducted through the Rossell School of Learning (RSL).

In this initiative, Rossell Techsys has played the role of Industry champion and has sponsored the ‘Learn and Earn’ training scheme where students earn a stipend while they receive training.  The fifth batch of fresh diploma holders is undergoing training under this ‘Learn and Earn’ program to groom them to become industry-ready. NTTF Bangalore is the academic partner to Rossell in this CSR initiative.

Apart from work, what else do you like to spend your time doing?

I enjoy sharing my life experiences with all staff members in an open and transparent manner. Showing my own vulnerabilities and imperfections helps them to overcome their challenges. My primary focus is the welfare and wellbeing of over 400+ families of Rossellites who form our backbone of success.

I always think of ways to improve the Quality of life of our staff and their conversion to truly Global Citizens who can act locally while thinking globally. Success is all about making a difference in people’s lives and in turn our society and environment. In my leisure time, I enjoy listening to western instrumental music and spiritual discourses.

What are the achievements and milestones of the Rossell Techsys company?

Rossell techsys has been recognized with many awards from distinguished organizations. We are so honored to receive these awards and feel incredible to be listed alongside the best. Though every award represents our efforts for excellence but some of them bestow more credibility to our achievements.

Some of our awards include − The Boeing ‘Supplier of the Year’ − 2015 (selected from among more than 13,000+ active Boeing Suppliers); Being the first company from India to receive AHS International ‘Supplier Excellence Award’−2018 from the American Helicopter Society. We have also received the ‘Company of the Year’ award at Aero-India 2019− Asia’s premier air show. These accolades reflect the achievements and contributions made to the industry in general.

What does the future hold for the company?

Apart from moving into our own state-of-the-art facility in Aerospace and Defense Hitech Park, in Bangalore, Rossell Techsys shall aim to grow organically as well as inorganically in India and globally. Rossell has already signed up teaming agreements with companies in the US and Israel and continues to look out for future partnerships and establishing business relationships of strategic importance.

Lastly, what message would you like to give to the readers of the Business Connect magazine?

To achieve anything in life, it is absolutely essential to remain committed to a cause. No matter what the challenges are− embrace tenacity and perseverance. Don’t get distracted by failures and stay focused on the end objective. Nothing is impossible. At the same time, it is very essential to be grounded, not be taken up with successes, and to be wary of pride. It has never served anyone good. Lastly, it is good to focus on collective success which actually gives joy and is the pathway to growth.
