Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh: Drones, Snipers, and Bomb Squads have been deployed across Ayodhya as the temple town prepares to welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the consecration ceremony at the newly constructed Ram Mandir on Monday.
The ‘Pran Pratishtha’ of the idol of Ram Lalla, the childhood form of Lord Ram, is set to be a grand affair, with attendees ranging from spiritual leaders to representatives of various tribal communities. The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 12:20 pm and conclude by 1 pm, followed by Prime Minister Modi addressing the gathering and interacting with ‘shramjeevis’ associated with the temple’s construction.
Elaborate Rituals and Ceremonies:
Prime Minister Modi is also slated to visit Kuber Tila to perform a ‘pooja’ at the restored ancient Shiv temple. The Ram Janmbhoomi Mandir, constructed in the traditional Nagara style, boasts impressive dimensions – 380 feet in length, 250 feet in width, and 161 feet in height. Adorned with intricately sculpted depictions of Hindu deities, the temple features a main sanctum sanctorum housing the idol of Ram Lalla.
Global Participation and Special Festivities:
The consecration rituals, initiated on January 16 from the Saryu river, will culminate on Monday afternoon. The event is expected to draw a global audience, with special festivities planned in temples across the country. Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Hindu diaspora groups are organizing events from Washington DC to Paris to Sydney.
Security Measures:
A multi-layered security cover has been implemented in Ayodhya, including 10,000 CCTV cameras, drones with artificial intelligence, and police personnel in plain clothes. Movable barriers with barbed wires are strategically placed, and multiple NDRF teams are on standby to handle various potential scenarios.
Notable Attendees and Opposition Absence:
While over 7,000 people are invited, the select list features 506 A-listers, including Amitabh Bachchan, Mukesh Ambani, Gautam Adani, and Sachin Tendulkar. Opposition leaders have declined the invitation, with the Congress terming it a “BJP-RSS event.”
Historical Context:
The consecration ceremony marks a pivotal moment following the 2019 Supreme Court judgment on the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title suit. The construction of the temple, a result of the historic judgment, symbolizes the end of a longstanding dispute over the site where the Babri Mosque stood until its demolition by “kar sevaks” in 1992.
