Tata Investment in BSNL: What You Need to Know
The flagship IT services firm of the Tata group that is Tata Consultancy Services is completely on a new way to enhance mobile networking connectivity across the country. It has signed an agreement with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) with an amount of 15,000 crore.
Tata’s investment in BSNL is expected to completely bring a change in mobile connecting networks as well as the internet speed for users in the nation. It will also lay down the groundwork required for future 5G plans.
Tata Consultancy Services is all set to establish large data centres across the 4 reasons of our country as a part of an agreement with telecommunication company named Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL). It has signed an agreement of ₹15,000 crore. This information has been announced by the Chief Operating Officer of Tata Consultancy Services named N Ganapathi Subramaniam.
TCS is collaborating with the Government Centre of Development of Telematics also known as C-DOT in order to make 38 deployments of bearing capacities in Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) network towers across all telecom circles of the company as part of its 4G network program. It will make BSNL the first indigenous network solution provider. Along with government centre for development of telematics, the TATA Group form has started testing for 4G network.
N Ganapathi Subramaniam announced that the investment program of TCS with BSNL is going to be one of the most complex deployments. It will establish two large data centres in each of 4 zones, , private server and disaster recovery server. He announced that each telecom circle will deploy 30 data centres depending upon the load requirement of that circle. Therefore, total 38 deployments will be there and the company is working with hardware supply partners in order to complete the implementation by June.
TCS has already informed in May 2022 about the exchange it had along with ITI Limited with secured and advanced purchase order of Rs 19,000 crore from BSNL in order to set up 100,00 4G sites. ITI is fulfilling almost 20% of this order whereas TCS has got the major part.
It is believed that over 1000 villages will get the best mobile connectivity. BSNL has also announced that it is planning to establish stream lined way of communication in order to connect all tehsils and districts very soon. TCS firm set up large data centres in 4 regions of our country. The government telecom company is all set to install 4G network in almost 1,00,000 sites. BSNL has already installed nearly 9000 hours 4G Internet services in different areas of country.
This collaboration which is led by TCS includes C-DOT and various indigenous telecom equipment maker such as Tejas networks which is responsible for its comprehensive planning, commissioning, installation, designing and optimization of mobile network. The parent company of TCS named Tata Sons also holds a majority of stakes in Tejas networks which is primarily based in Bengaluru.
Tata Consultancy Services collaboration with BSNL signifies the entry of TCS into the modern 4G and 5G communication infrastructure segment which will compete against some global players including Ericsson, Nokia and Huawei. After years of negotiation, this deal has been finally secured.
Talking in terms of business, it is the largest deal when for TCS in 2023 followed by $23,000,000 deal from UK based phoenix group and the another one from British retailer Marks and Spencer which is reportedly worth one billion dollar.
