WhatsApp has introduced a premium subscription called WhatsApp Plus. But there’s no need to panic — the arrival of the Plus version won’t take anything away from your regular WhatsApp experience. Your normal app will continue to work exactly as before. The only question is: if you spend money on WhatsApp Plus, what extra features do you actually get?
You’re probably already using WhatsApp. Now Meta, WhatsApp’s parent company, wants users to try the “official” WhatsApp Plus — not the fake modified versions that were once widely available on app stores. This new version comes directly from Meta as a premium subscription service.
Again, your standard WhatsApp isn’t losing any features. Chats, calls, and everyday use will remain the same. But users willing to pay for the Plus subscription will get additional customization options and exclusive cosmetic upgrades.
How Much Will WhatsApp Plus Cost?
The pricing for India hasn’t been officially revealed yet. However, in Europe, the subscription reportedly costs 2.49 Euros per month (around ₹280). In Pakistan, it is said to cost 229 Pakistani Rupees, which is roughly ₹77 in Indian currency.
Currently, WhatsApp Plus has been rolled out only for select iPhone users. The subscription is also not meant for WhatsApp Business accounts.
What Features Will WhatsApp Plus Offer?
The premium version focuses mainly on personalization and design enhancements. Users will get multiple options to customize the chat interface, including premium sticker packs with animated effects. Around 18 exclusive themes will allow users to move beyond WhatsApp’s classic green look.
Subscribers will also receive 14 special app icons, ranging from minimal styles to flashy neon-inspired designs.
According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp Plus users may also be able to pin up to 20 chats at once, compared to just 3 chats in the standard version. The subscription is also expected to include single-chat themes and 10 exclusive ringtones such as Flutter, Tempo, Ripple, Quest, Drum, Murmur, Flux, Meadow, Bubble, and Carnival.
No Blue Tick or Exclusive Core Features
As mentioned earlier, WhatsApp Plus is not like Instagram or X subscriptions. Paying for the service will not give users a verification badge or unlock completely new messaging features unavailable in the free version.
The Plus subscription is mainly for users who enjoy customizing the appearance of their app and want a more personalized experience. If that doesn’t matter to you, the regular WhatsApp version will continue to work just fine for everyday chatting.
