“Health is the Real Wealth”- World Health Day 2021
A balanced mind resides in a healthy body. The temple in which the soul resides in our body and the temple should never be held dirty or ruined. Man’s most precious commodity is his body and health. In the fast-moving world today people do not have enough time in their daily lives to check their health on a regular basis, so they strive to avoid diseases by following a healthy lifestyle.
To raise awareness among the mass, every year on April 7th, World Health Day is commemorated by WHO (World Health Organization). Considering the current state of the world, we as professionals must reconsider the value of leading a healthy lifestyle. The WHO holds this awareness day to inspire everyone to contribute to make the world a healthier society. World Health Day is one of WHO’s 8 official public health annual programs, along with World TB Day, World AIDS Day, World Immunization Week, World Malaria Day, World No Tobacco Day, World Blood Donation Day, and World Hepatitis Day.
The recent COVID-19 pandemic has reversed recent health gains, driven more people into poverty and food insecurity, and exacerbated gender, social, and health disparities. It had a huge effect on India’s economic activity as well as the loss of human lives. However, the healthcare market in India is projected to reach US $ 372 billion by 2022. In our joint warfare against COVID-19, recently Indian government has designed an AAROGYA SETU mobile app to associate vital health services with Indian citizens.
So, on this day, we must promise to participate in the government’s COVID-19 vaccination campaign and obey the guidelines (wear masks, social distancing, protecting one-self from getting infected) in order to fight against the coronavirus and stay safe and healthy. Stroke, Respiratory Diseases, Tuberculosis (TB), Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease, and Other Dementias, Malaria, Diarrheal Diseases, Malignant and Other Tumours are the top life-threatening diseases in India.
Let’s try to understand how did this day begin, what is its significance, and why is it observed, and How to Build a Fairer and Healthier World?
History
On April 7, 1948, the WHO was created. Every year on the 7th of April, World Health Day is commemorated to mark the occasion of its anniversary. The WHO was created with the goal of improving people’s health all over the world. It is a United Nations Organization unit. The headquarter of the World Health Organization (WHO) is in Geneva, Switzerland.
What is the theme of World Health Day in the year 2021?
As part of a year-long global movement to bring people together to create a fairer, healthier planet, this year the theme calls for action to eradicate health inequities on World Health Day 2021. This theme is very apt as access to healthcare is becoming distant for poor people. ” The right to the absolute best health is one of every human being’s basic rights, regardless of race, sex, political viewpoint, or socioeconomic status.” according to the WHO constitution.
How to celebrate World Health Day?
Many health-related events are held in schools, colleges, workplaces, and hospitals on this day. People are taught the value of their well-being and the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle. To stay healthy, yoga, meditation, and sports activities are coordinated. To save lives, a few groups hold blood donation camps. Donating to help child well-being on this day is also a successful way to ensure that all children have access to fundamental rights such as security, nutrition, and education.
Final Thoughts
A global pandemic necessitates a coordinated, constructive response. We will die if we are separated, but we will prosper if we are together. It is wise to ensure that everybody in the world has access to healthcare. Now is the time for international cooperation. Every society must work together to combat the virus. Everyone’s health is important. According to WHO health is “Not only the absence of medical attention, but a state of full physical, psychological, and social well-being.”
