Macron’s State Visit For The Republic Day Eve; Elevates India- France Relations

As India observes its 75th Republic day tomorrow,  French President Emmanuel Macron is set to arrive in Jaipur for a two-day state visit as the Chief Guest for the gala celebration. His highly anticipated visit is expected to start off with a visit to the majestic Amer Fort. Here, a cultural event would be organized to honor his exclusive trip.

Afterwards, the sources revealed that Macron would be headed to the historic monument Jantar Mantar, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. At Jantar Mantar, his special meeting has been scheduled with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Worth noting that Jantar Mantar holds a unique connection with France’s history.

In 1734, two French Jesuit astronomers stationed in Chandernagore, a French-controlled area in West Bengal. They were invited and honored at the court of Sawai Jai Singh, the founder of Jaipur and an astronomer ruler. Owing to this historical link, it has been said that Macron’s visit adds depth to the meeting as he explores the world’s largest observatory, alongside our honorable Prime Minister.

Later on, both the leaders are expected to engage in a joint roadshow from Jantar Mantar to Sanganeri Gate, with notable stops at Hawa Mahal. Moreover, an iconic photo shoot would be held at the symbolic monument, Hawa Mahal. Following this, the agenda is said to enlist a visit to the world famous Albert Hall Museum.

And the day would be concluded with a private dinner at the opulent Rambagh Palace hosted by our Prime Minister. The dinner would be setting the stage for cordial discussions, as per the sources.

On 26th January 2024, Macron would then proceed to New Delhi to participate in the Republic Day parade, marking the culmination of his impactful visit. The whole trip would be highlighting the historical ties and cultural exchanges between France and India.

In view of Macron being the special guest at the Republic Day parade held at Kartavya Path, the French Army is expected to be part of the parade. Macron is the sixth leader from France and the fifth president to be the chief guest at India’s Republic Day. The previous French leaders who had this honor were President François Hollande in 2016, Nicolas Sarkozy in 2008, Jacques Chirac in 1998, Valery Giscard d’Estaing in 1980, and Prime Minister Jacques Chirac in 1976.

After the culmination of the grand celebration, Macron will pay a visit to the French Embassy to discuss matters with the staff. The same evening, he would be escorted to the Rashtrapati Bhavan for the ‘At Home’ event after which he would be attending the official banquet dinner.
