India to Unveil its First Underwater Metro
India is all set to get its first underwater metro. The metro line will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, the line will be constructed under Kolkata’s Hooghly River. Connecting Esplanade and Howrah Maiden.
Besides, the PM will also inaugurate Kavi Subhash- Hemanta Mukhopadhyay and the Taratala- Majerhat metro division in Kolkata.This will ease the urban mobility and West to East connectivity in Kolkata. In April, 2023 Kolkata Metro like today, created history by driving through a tunnel under the river Hooghly, first time in India.
Today, Prime Minister will also inaugurate the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS(Rapid Rail Transit System) virtually, from Muradnagar extension to
Modi Nagar North, which is 17 Km long. First phase of RRTS from Delhi to Meerut was inaugurated on October 20, 2023.
Kolkata metro is planning to start its commercial operations by June-July in the West-East metro Corridor, from Salt Lake Sector V to Howrah Maiden which is going to be 16.6 Km long metro line.
