ICC T20 World Cup semi-finals: South Africa beats Afghanistan and entered into the Finals

South Africa entered into the finals of ICC T20 World Cup by defeating Afghanistan by 9 wickets with 67 balls remaining. The first semi-final match of this World Cup was held at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba, Trinidad.

Afghanistan won the toss and elected to bat first. Both the opening batsmen of Afghanistan team could not perform well and got out at 0. Azmatullah Omarzai scored 10 runs in 12 balls with the help of 2 fours. They gave a target of 56 runs to their opponent team.

Marco Jansen and Tabraiz Shamsi took 3 wickets for their team. Marco Jansen gave 16 runs in 3 overs and played with an economy of 5.33 whereas Tabraiz Shamsi gave 6 runs in 1.5 overs and played with an economy of 3.27.

Marco Jansen emerged as the player of the match as he took 3 wickets for his team by giving 16 runs in 3 overs.

The opening batsmen of South Africa team, namely, Quinton de Kock and Reeza Hendricks gave a good start to their team. Quinton de Kock scored 5 runs in 8 balls by hitting a four and was sent back to pavilion by Farooqi at the score of 5 runs.

Fazalhaq Farooqi took the wicket of Quinton de Kock. He gave 11 runs in 2 overs and played with an economy of 5.50.

By defeating Afghanistan by 9 wickets, South Africa entered into the finals of ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
