The Tamil Nadu Sunnat Jamath has reportedly filed a complaint against actor and TVK chairman Vijay following a recent Iftar he hosted.
Tamil actor Vijay held an Iftar in Chennai on Friday. According to News18, the Tamil Nadu Sunnat Jamath has filed a complaint against the actor with the Chennai Police Commissioner’s office for ‘insulting Muslims’ at the event.
Complaint made on Vijay.
According to the report, Tamil Nadu Sunnat Jamath treasurer Syed Kous met with the media to discuss the organisation’s complaint against Vijay. He allegedly stated, “Muslims were insulted at Vijay’s Iftar program.” We feel that the presence of drunks and rowdies who had nothing to do with fasting or Iftar has offended Muslims.”
Syed further alleged that the event was planned in a ‘hurtful manner’, criticising Vijay for failing to ‘show sorrow’ about how the Iftar turned out. He said that preparations were not done adequately and that Vijay’s ‘foreign guards’ mistreated them, treating them like livestock. “Legal action should be done against Vijay to guarantee that this does not occur again. “We did not file a complaint for publicity,” he explained.
Vijay planned the Iftar, which took place on Friday at the Royapettah YMCA grounds. The actor wore a skull hat to the ceremonies and took part in the prayers before breaking fast. He also had an Iftar dinner with the participants. Numerous photos and videos from the event circulated on social media.

Vijay was last seen in Venkat Prabhu’s 2024 film The GOAT and is presently filming on H Vinoth’s Jana Nayagan. The film, which also stars Pooja Hegde, Mamitha Baiju, and Bobby Deol, will be his final before he runs in the 2026 elections. While speaking with critics at a recent event, the actor announced that he will not sign any more projects. Vijay launched his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), last year.
