Delhi NCR Air Quality Index, Fog Alerts LIVE News: With concerns over Delhi’s toxic air reaching alarming levels, the Delhi government has rolled out fresh measures to curb pollution. The most significant step is the enforcement of the ‘No PUC, No Fuel’ rule starting Thursday.
Under the new restrictions, only BS-VI compliant vehicles registered outside Delhi will be permitted to enter the city. At the same time, curbs on construction activities and trucks transporting construction materials will remain in force as part of the GRAP norms.
Worsening the situation, dense fog blanketed Delhi-NCR on Thursday morning, bringing visibility down to 150 metres at Palam and 200 metres at Safdarjung airport. The poor visibility disrupted road traffic and led weather authorities to issue an orange alert, warning that foggy conditions may continue during early mornings as winter deepens.
Meanwhile, amid growing public concern, the Lok Sabha is scheduled to take up a detailed discussion today on the deteriorating air quality in Delhi and neighbouring regions. Union Environment Minister Bhupendra Yadav is expected to respond in the House.
