From Babar’s silent performance to Hardik’s roar, here’s everything about India’s victory against Pakistan!

By Sanjay Maurya

Hardik Pandya’s all-rounder brilliance led India to a thrilling five-wicket win over arch-rivals Pakistan in an Asia Cup match on Sunday (August 28). Pandya finished with figures of 3/25 in 4 overs, while restricting Pakistan to 147 in 19.5 overs and then hitting 33 off 17 balls with the winning six in the final over bowled by left-arm spinner Mohammad Nawaz.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar came back with figures of 4-26 in his four overs as India bundled out Pakistan for 147. The veteran seamer also got the key breakthrough of Pakistan captain Babar Azam in the third over of the innings “I am very happy with the performance, not just with the wickets. Yes, when you take wickets, you feel happy to contribute but sometimes bowling economically is also a contribution to the win. I think it was a complete team performance,” said Bhuvneshwar.

“We had forgotten about the match against Pakistan that we lost last year. Honestly, as a cricketer we do not think about the result, I know people can have their expectations. We just leave everything behind and keep moving ahead,” he added. With this victory, India has avenged the defeat against Pakistan in last year’s T20 World Cup. Pakistan defeated India by 10 wickets at the Dubai ground in 2021. With this victory, India sits at top of the points table in Group A. The team’s next match is scheduled against Hong Kong on August 31.
