We often hear entrepreneurial stories where the ideas that turn into big business projects don’t come from boardrooms or brainstorming sessions. They start quietly, in everyday situations, when a small problem shows a bigger flaw in the whole industry. Gaurav Kanchan, the founder of Blis – Blume Industry Solutions, had that moment come out of the blue during a time when the whole world was going through an unprecedented amount of trouble.
This whole narrative sheds light on a fantastic journey of the company and its overall projection to establish a holistic digital platform to revamp the realm of real estate. Based on the conversation held with Gaurav, we have knitted his story such that it may rekindle the entrepreneurial flames in the heart of our valued readers.
The genesis story of BlumeSpace by Blis
Around 2020, when the global pandemic was just starting, there was a problem with a tenant living in one of the family’s apartments. What started out as a simple case of late rent payments slowly became something more complicated. The experience was much more tiring than anyone expected because of complaints from neighbours, gaps in communication, and the legal process that had to be followed to settle the issue.
As the situation unfolded, it brought forward a realization that many property owners and investors quietly face but rarely talk about i.e. in real estate, trust is often built on assumptions rather than structured systems. Landlords depend on verbal assurances, brokers vouch for tenants, and investors make decisions based largely on fragmented information. Resolving that particular tenant dispute eventually required legal assistance and a considerable amount of effort.
But more importantly, it left behind a question that stayed with Gaurav long after the issue had been settled. What if there were a better way to assess credibility within the real estate ecosystem? That question slowly became the foundation for what would later evolve into BlumeSpace, UAE’s first credibility driven real estate platform which is a platform designed to bring a new layer of transparency, credibility, and digital efficiency into one of the world’s most traditional industries.

From Curiosity to Concept
Needless to say that the idea did not emerge overnight. Even before that incident, Gaurav had already begun exploring the real estate sector with growing curiosity. Fresh out of his master’s program in 2019, he decided to pursue a course in real estate housing finance, primarily to understand whether the industry truly interested him or not. What began as an exploratory step soon turned into something more engaging.
The more he studied the sector, the more he realised how massive the real estate ecosystem truly is, and yet how many of its operational processes still rely on manual coordination, fragmented communication, and informal networks of trust.
This contrast fascinated him. On one hand, real estate represents some of the largest financial transactions people make in their lives. On the other, the systems supporting these decisions often remain surprisingly opaque. The tenant dispute during the pandemic simply reinforced what he had already begun observing. There was a gap, not just in technology, but in structured credibility within the industry.
The Credibility Gap in Real Estate
The majority of property transactions reflect that credibility is often determined through informal channels. Prospective tenants depend on brokers to validate landlords. Landlords rely on brokers to verify tenants. Investors trust property managers to provide updates on projects.
While tools like credit scores exist, they rarely reflect behavioural reliability in real estate situations. A person may have a strong financial credit profile and still prove to be a problematic tenant or landlord in practice.
For Gaurav, this realization sparked a powerful idea: what if there could be a credibility framework specifically designed for the real estate ecosystem? A system where landlords, tenants, developers, and investors could all operate within a digital environment that brings transparency and accountability into the process.
That thought eventually evolved into Blis, a platform designed not just as a tool, but as what Gaurav describes as an industry unification layer. Real estate developers invest massive budgets in marketing, branding, and channel partnerships to build trust and visibility, yet just one poor client experience can undo years of effort, instantly reshaping how consumers perceive their brand.
Building a Digital Layer for Real Estate
While developers pour heavily into marketing and partnerships, BlumeSpace’s Trust Index is designed to protect that investment, by tying credibility to individual projects rather than the entire brand, it ensures that one negative experience doesn’t drag down overall goodwill, but stays contained where it belongs.
At its core, BlumeSpace aims to function as a digital bridge connecting multiple stakeholders within the real estate ecosystem. Rather than replacing existing systems entirely, the platform is designed to integrate with the operational workflows already used by developers, property managers, and investors. One of the central ideas behind the platform is to provide real-time visibility for property investors, particularly in international markets such as the UAE, where many investors purchase property while residing in other countries.
Consider a scenario where an investor based in Delhi purchases property in Dubai. Traditionally, their only source of information about construction progress, payment schedules, or project updates comes through a relationship manager or broker.
This often involves a continuous back-and-forth of emails, calls, and follow-ups. Blis attempts to streamline this process by offering a centralized platform where investors can track their investment progress, monitor payment schedules, receive project updates, and access relevant documentation without relying solely on manual communication channels. In other words, it aims to transform a traditionally opaque process into something far more transparent and manageable.
Empowering Users Through Information
Another defining philosophy behind Blis lies in what Gaurav describes as user empowerment. Within the current real estate framework, negotiation power often rests heavily with intermediaries who control information flow. Buyers, tenants, and even landlords frequently operate with limited verified data about the other party. By introducing credibility systems and structured information layers, BlumeSpace aims to shift that dynamic slightly in favour of the end user.
If a tenant can demonstrate a strong credibility profile, they gain stronger negotiating power. If a landlord maintains a positive record of reliability and transparency, it builds greater confidence among tenants and investors. The platform seeks to create a more balanced ecosystem where stakeholders can interact based on verified digital credibility rather than assumptions.
Technology With Purpose
BlumeSpace adopts a slightly more measured approach when it comes to tech inclusive approach. For Gaurav, technology should serve a clear purpose rather than being implemented simply because it is trending. The platform is currently exploring ways to integrate AI in areas where it can genuinely enhance efficiency. One potential application involves lead refinement, where AI-driven agents can help developers better understand the needs and preferences of potential buyers before presenting property options.
Another area under exploration is the integration of legal technology, where AI-supported tools could assist users in understanding legal frameworks, contract clauses, or dispute-related documentation more efficiently. However, these features are still being developed carefully, with the emphasis remaining on meaningful value rather than unnecessary complexity.
Simplicity as a Design Principle
One of the notable aspects of Blis is its emphasis on simplicity. While many digital platforms attempt to incorporate numerous complex features, Gaurav believes that real usability lies in creating systems that are intuitive and easy to navigate. The early beta testing phase has reflected this philosophy. According to feedback from initial users, the platform’s straightforward interface has been one of its most appreciated qualities.
In the present time, the company is conducting a focused beta run with a select group of clients and internal stakeholders. This testing phase is expected to refine the system further before a broader release planned in the coming months. For now, the team remains focused on learning from user feedback and improving the platform before scaling it more widely.
Looking Beyond Real Estate
While real estate remains the immediate focus, the broader vision behind Blis extends beyond a single industry. The core philosophy of building custom digital solutions around industry-specific operational challenges could potentially apply to other sectors as well. One of the industries currently being explored for future expansion is aviation, where complex communication networks and documentation management systems often create operational inefficiencies.
However, Gaurav is clear that the company intends to move forward step by step. The priority remains ensuring that the real estate platform successfully demonstrates its value before venturing into larger and more complex sectors.
A Message to Future Entrepreneurs
Reflecting on his own journey from uncertainty to building a technology platform, Gaurav often shares a simple message with aspiring entrepreneurs. In his words, hesitation is often the biggest barrier people face when starting something new. When he first began exploring the idea in 2019, there was hesitation and uncertainty. Like many young professionals, he questioned whether taking risks at such an early stage made sense.
But the pandemic, with its stark reminder of life’s unpredictability, shifted that perspective. Sometimes the only way to truly know whether an idea works is to pursue it. Even if it fails, the experience itself becomes invaluable. And if it succeeds, it might just transform an everyday frustration into something that reshapes an entire industry.
