In Gurugram, Haryana, Maruti opened its first manufacturing facility that same year.

Manufacturing Units

Suzuki, the parent company of Maruti Suzuki, owns a manufacturing complex in Gujarat that is entirely devoted to supplying Maruti Suzuki with all of its output. Maruti Suzuki also has two manufacturing sites in Haryana (Gurugram and Manesar). 2,250,000 automobiles may be produced annually at all manufacturing facilities (1.5 million at Maruti Suzuki’s two plants and 750,000 at Suzuki Motor Gujarat).

The 300-acre Gurugram manufacturing park features three completely integrated production facilities (1.2 km2). Additionally, the Gurgaon facilities produce 240,000 K-Series engines yearly. The Alto 800, WagonR, Ertiga, XL6, S-Cross, Vitara Brezza, Ignis, and Eeco are all produced at the Gurugram factory. Beginning in January 2021, the Gurugram site will also assemble the Jimny exclusively for international markets. According to reports, the Indian-built Jimny will be shipped to markets in Africa and the Middle East.

Future Plans

The market has been dominated by Maruti Suzuki thanks to its tiny, affordable cars. However, as consumers switch to larger cars and regulators want additional safety measures, the corporation is facing more competition from rival brands. Maruti Suzuki recorded a two-fold increase in consolidated net profit for the first quarter that concluded on June 30.

It reported 1,036 crores compared to 475 crores at this point in the previous fiscal year when sales were down because of Covid. In comparison to April through June of last year, net sales increased to 26,512 crores. RC Bhargava, chairman of Maruti Suzuki, had previously stated that the company would expand output in the current fiscal year to roughly 20 lakh units because of greater semiconductor availability. In an effort to catch up with the competition, Maruti Suzuki is now planning to introduce various electric vehicle (EV) models in India.

It will debut its first electric vehicle in 2025, but it hopes to quickly take the lead. Suzuki Motors Gujarat, a 100% subsidiary of Suzuki of Japan, aggressively devoted resources to EV aspirations just last month. There were concerns brought up at the time by the proxy advisers regarding two distinct business strategies used by two branches of the same company in the same nation. The situation now seems to be improving. The first model will be manufactured at Suzuki Motor Gujarat’s factory and released from there in 2025.
