Stem cells therapy: Nourishing Hope for Human Health

When it comes to rejuvenation, “Stem cells” are “wonder drug”! Modern Stem cell therapies are safe, riskless, targeted, natural, effective and aesthetic remedy to foster a healthy young look and a longer life. The fact that “Stem cells” used in the treatments are obtained either from plant or individual’s own body, separates it from the traditional healing arts, to be rightly called as the Future of Medicine. Stem cells therapy, a naturopathic treatment, easily heals various problems of skin (dermis) and hair with no side effects.

In recent years, the therapy has gained attention globally because of the minimal invasive approaches. The most common issues faced by men and women like Alopecia (Hair loss or Baldness) or problems of summer season like Acne or Sunburn are easily curable by Stem cells (Skin Rejuvenation Treatment for face or PRP, Platelet Rich Plasma for hair).

A Survey of Stem cell Market

The global stem cell market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 10% while the Stem Cell banking market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 22.4% by the year 2024. With the backing of the government and private organizations, the Indian stem cell therapy market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 15%.

In recent times, with the rapid advancements made in stem cell research, and the increasing stats of Indian medical tourism due to the availability of affordable qualified doctors, surgeons, and trained staffs, the exciting sector is booming in India and may evolve soon as a great anti-aging treatment in the coming years.

To celebrate the birth of Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, a great physician and second chief minister of West Bengal, the Indian Government promotes the health care industry by celebrating every year National Doctor’s day on 1st July. This year the theme for the celebration is “Zero tolerance to violence against doctors and clinical establishments”.

For future perspective, Stem cells or Mesenchymal Stem cells (MSCs) are a promising modern technology providing the customized personal health care for all types of lifestyle and life-threatening diseases like neurological disorders, cardiovascular diseases, autism, osteoarthritis, infertility, eye disorders, diabetes, kidney diseases, cancer (leukemia), sickle-cell anemia (autoimmune disorders), dental problems, breast augmentation, hair loss(PRP, Platelet-rich Plasma), including cosmetics.

Unique attributes of Stem Cells

Typically, Stem cells are of three types: Adult stem cells, Human Embryonic stem cells, and iPSCs (Human Induced Pluripotent Stem cells), of which adult stem cells used in bone-marrow transplantation is a big success story. Nowadays, Owing to the enhanced demand for the number of clinical trials and disease management, there has been significant growth in the stem cell market globally.

Basically, the science behind the Stem cell therapy lies in the natural property of the Stem cells of having potential to divide through cell division, and being undifferentiated the cells possess unique regenerative and differentiating capabilities to give rise to a desired specific type of cells like blood cells, heart muscle cells, or nerve cells and meet the requirement of internal repair or defective part of the body.

It was in the year 1981 when Martin Evans and Gail Martin got success in deriving embryonic stem cells from early mouse embryos. In 2007, one major breakthrough in Stem cell research came with the discovery of the iPSCs by Shinya Yamanaka, James Thomson, and George Q. Daley which paced the Stem cell market as these cells were exemplary as they were directly generated from adult cells which offered vast opportunities in drug development and discovery.

Recently, In India Stem cell banking has gained a lot of importance because of Modi government initiatives and increased people awareness. The number of Cord blood stem cell banks, the concept of preserving stem cells obtained from the umbilical cord (UC) blood permitted and licensed by CDSCO(The Central Drugs Standard Control Organization), of a newborn baby at -196-degree temperature for future emergencies is increasing in developing countries like India, which is ultimately boosting the stem cell market growth.

Also, Stem transplantation (biomaterials) has gained popularity in recent times as a promising regenerative medicine source in the form of quality care provided by the lifetime protection to the newborn babies because of their incomparable success rates. Nowadays, a recent concept of dental stem banking to store dental stem cells for the healthy tooth of children is gaining momentum among professionals and is an evolving field in dental sciences.

In the last few years, the stem cell industry has seen a huge boom in the number of stem cell clinics and banks working in this field. There has been a sharp increase seen in a number of world-class stem cell therapy centers in major cities of India like Delhi (Greater Kailash), Mumbai, Pune, Surat, Chennai, Noida, and Gurgaon.

Conclusion

Stem cells have the real potential to bring revolution in medical science in improving the quality of human life, its longevity and are the hope for life to millions of people. It is of utmost importance to encourage the general concept of research involving stem cells and promote professional and public education in all areas of stem cell research and medical application for a healthy and happy life.
