Chandrayaan-3, a beacon of hope for the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) as well as millions of Indians, is on the verge of making history with its lunar landing scheduled for August 23, 2023.

A momentous achievement in India’s space exploration endeavors is within reach as Chandrayaan-3 prepares for a gentle touchdown on the lunar surface on August 23. The entire nation will have the opportunity to witness this event live through various platforms.

Chandrayaan-3 Timing:

ISRO officially announced on August 20 via the ‘X’ platform (formerly Twitter) that the Vikram lander of Chandrayaan-3 is set to land on the Moon at 6:04 PM on Wednesday, August 23.

Chandrayaan-3 Live Coverage:

The coverage of this historic event will kick off at 5:27 PM on August 23, 2023.

Where to Tune In:

Audiences can tune in to witness the soft landing in real time on multiple platforms, including the ISRO Website, ISRO’s YouTube channel, ISRO’s Facebook page, as well as the DD National TV channel. Online streaming will also be available on the Disney+ Hotstar platform.

A live telecast titled “Chandrayaan – 3 #countdowntohistory” will be aired on the National Geographic Channel and Disney+ Hotstar platforms, starting at 4 PM on August 23, 2023. This broadcast will precede the anticipated descent of Vikram, which is scheduled to initiate around 5:45 PM IST. The program, hosted by Gaurav Kapoor and featuring distinguished space experts, will be enriched with futuristic AR VR graphics.

During the live show, notable personalities like astronauts Sunita Williams and Rakesh Sharma, along with S. Somanath, Chairman of ISRO, will provide exclusive insights into the mission’s significance for India and the future of space exploration. Joining the live discussion will be Srijan Pal Singh, CEO and Co-Founder of the Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Centre; Chris Hadfield, Former Commander of the International Space Station; and Ann Druyan, Creative Director of NASA’s Voyager Interstellar Message and Emmy-winning Writer, who will collectively count down to the final moments.

ISRO has urged educational institutions and schools nationwide to actively engage students and faculty by promoting the event and arranging live screenings of the Chandrayaan-3 soft landing within their campuses.

The Journey of Chandrayaan-3 commenced a month and six days ago with its launch from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh, on July 14.
