In the midst of a worldwide energy price spike brought on by the current crisis in West Asia, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged people to revive the work-from-home culture. Following the Prime Minister’s speech to the country, the Delhi government declared on Thursday, May 14, that all government and private offices would be required to work two days from home. Other states, not just Delhi, have also encouraged people to resume working from home in order to reduce gasoline consumption.
List of States Giving WFH Advice
Delhi
A number of initiatives to lower fuel use and ease the strain on foreign exchange reserves were unveiled today by the Delhi administration. The government has demanded that employees work from home two days a week under the new policy.
Twice a week, all Delhi government and private employees would work from home, and 50% of formal meetings will take place virtually. This is intended to reduce travel and fuel consumption. “Official travel shall be undertaken only where operationally necessary,” it said, adding that departments should promote online training programs, online consultations, virtual inspections whenever possible, and digital communication.
Maharashtra
Reducing fuel use is another goal of the Maharashtra administration. Many departmental meetings are already being held online, according to Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule.
Nitesh Rane, the minister of fisheries and ports, also urged authorities to prioritize electric vehicles over gasoline and diesel vehicles and shift to virtual meetings.
Uttar Pradesh
Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, requested that departments hold 50% of their internal meetings electronically. Additionally, he encouraged staff members to work from home whenever feasible, at least twice a week.
