Indian Railways to Launch Five New Vande Bharat Trains on June 26: Route Details
Written by Sanjay Kumar
The Indian Railways is set to launch semi-high-speed Vande Bharat Express trains on five more routes on June 26. This launch marks the first expansion following the unfortunate three-train accident in Odisha on June 2, which resulted in the loss of 288 lives. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to inaugurate these semi-high-speed trains through a video conference.
The five routes designated for the new Vande Bharat trains are as follows: Mumbai-Goa, Bangalore-Hubli, Patna-Ranchi, Bhopal-Indore, and Bhopal-Jabalpur. The railway ministry had previously postponed the launch of the Mumbai-Goa Vande Bharat train as a result of the tragic incident in Odisha.
This will be the first instance where five Vande Bharat trains will commence operations simultaneously. Despite previous launches being accompanied by significant fanfare, this occasion will be relatively subdued due to the Odisha accident.
On May 25, Prime Minister Modi virtually inaugurated Uttarakhand’s first Vande Bharat Express, which connects Dehradun with New Delhi at semi-high speeds. Similarly, on May 18, PM Modi launched the Vande Bharat Express between Puri and Howrah via video conferencing. These ultra-modern trains are equipped with cutting-edge passenger amenities.
After the introduction of Odisha’s first Vande Bharat train, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that PM Modi has set a target for Vande Bharat to reach nearly all states by June of this year.
For those unfamiliar, the Vande Bharat Express is a domestically manufactured, semi-high-speed, self-propelled train set. It boasts state-of-the-art passenger amenities, offering travelers a faster, more comfortable, and convenient travel experience.
Currently, Vande Bharat expresses are running in 18 routes:
