After 27 Years, Miss World 2023 Set to Take Place in India

After an absence of nearly three decades, India is preparing to host the Miss World 2023 competition, marking the return of the highly anticipated international beauty pageant to the country. The exact dates for the 71st edition of Miss World, scheduled for November this year, have yet to be confirmed. The last time India hosted the prestigious pageant was in 1996.
During a press conference on Thursday (June 8), Julia Morley, the chairperson and CEO of the Miss World organization, expressed her delight in announcing India as the new host for the 71st Miss World Final. She eagerly shared her anticipation of showcasing India’s unique and diverse culture, its world-class attractions, and its breathtaking locations to the rest of the world. This event will undoubtedly be the most spectacular Miss World final ever, presenting the achievements of 130 national champions throughout their one-month journey across “Incredible India.”
The month-long event will gather contestants from over 130 countries, who will participate in a series of rigorous competitions. These competitions will include talent showcases, sports challenges, and charitable initiatives, all with the aim of highlighting the qualities that make these contestants true ambassadors of change.
Karolina Bielawska of Poland, the reigning Miss World, is currently in India to promote the beauty competition. She expressed her excitement at handing over her crown in this “beautiful country” that shares the same values as Miss World. Karolina praised India for its exceptional hospitality and mentioned that this is her second visit to the country, where she feels at home. She emphasized the values of diversity, unity, family, respect, love, and kindness that India stands for, expressing her desire to showcase these values to the world. Karolina believes that bringing the entire world to India for a month and revealing all that the country has to offer is a fantastic idea.
Sini Shetty, the current Miss India World who will represent the country in the upcoming Miss World competition, shares in the excitement of hosting the event. She eagerly looks forward to meeting her fellow contestants from around the globe and welcoming them to India. Sini intends to showcase the true essence of India, its diversity, and its cultural richness. She expressed her enthusiasm for this incredible journey and wished all the participants an unforgettable experience in India.
India has a remarkable track record in the Miss World competition, having won the prestigious title six times in the past. The previous Indian winners include Reita Faria (1966), Aishwarya Rai (1994), Diana Hayden (1997), Yukta Mookhey (1999), Priyanka Chopra (2000), and Manushi Chillar (2017).
