Ola Electric, the Indian electric two-wheeler manufacturer, surprised everyone by opening the purchase window for its latest electric scooter, the S1 Air, a day ahead of the initially scheduled date of July 28. The response from customers in the first few hours surpassed Ola’s expectations, with over 3,000 units already booked during this initial phase.
The Ola S1 Air is currently priced at ₹1.09 lakh (ex-showroom) for customers who had made prior bookings. For others interested in the electric scooter, the cost will be an additional ₹10,000.
Bhavish Aggarwal, the Founder and CEO of Ola Electric, made significant updates on social media. He announced that the first 1,000 units of the S1 Air electric scooter were booked within just one hour after the purchase window was opened. A mere three hours later, Aggarwal revealed another impressive milestone, with the company reaching 3,000 units booked. The response from customers has been remarkable.
On July 27, 2023, during a live webcast, Ola Electric’s Founder and CEO, Bhavish Aggarwal, announced that the purchase window for the S1 Air electric scooter was opened early exclusively for its community members, allowing them to make purchases a day earlier than originally planned.
The Ola S1 Air electric scooter shares the same platform as the S1 Pro model but incorporates several cost-cutting features, including a smaller 3 kWh battery pack, offering a range of 125 km on a single charge. It boasts a 4.5 kW hub motor (equivalent to 6 bhp), providing impressive acceleration from 0 to 40 kmph in just 3.3 seconds, with a top speed of 90 kmph, as claimed by Ola Electric.
Furthermore, the Ola S1 Air electric scooter will compete with other electric scooters like the Ather 450S and TVS iQube. It comes equipped with telescopic front forks and twin shock absorbers at the rear, complemented by drum brakes on both ends. The scooter also features a striking neon green paint scheme and a practical grab rail.
