PM Modi to launch 5G services today; when will users get access?
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch 5G telephony services in India today i.e. on October 1. According to an official release, 5G will be launched in select cities by the Prime Minister on Saturday and it will progressively cover the entire country over the next few years. India Mobile Congress (IMC), which claims to be the largest telecom, media, and technology forum in Asia, is jointly organised by the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) and the Department of Telecommunications (DoT).
Where to watch the 5G launch live? – National public broadcaster Doordarshan is likely to broadcast the event live along with other major news channels. Those interested can catch the live updates of 5G there. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also inaugurate the sixth edition of the India Mobile Congress. The speech will start at 10 am.
There aren’t any 5G tariff plans available right now from Jio, Airtel, or Vi. However, it is anticipated that the telecoms will introduce 5G tariff plans soon in light of the launch of 5G services this year. Reliance Jio announced earlier this year that it would roll out 5G services by Diwali in at least four cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai. This year, Airtel also intends to provide 5G services. Despite buying spectrum in 17 circles across the nation, Vodafone Idea, the third largest telecom provider in India, is yet to announce its plans to launch 5G services.
When will Jio 5G service reach other parts of the country?
The question is, when will Jio 5G services reach other parts of the country? Well, it’s going to take some time. Jio said during the AGM 2022 event that Jio 5G services will be available in other regions of the country by the coming year. During the annual general meeting, the company’s CEO said that the official rollout of Jio 5G services across the country will happen only by December 2023.
In fact, to start with, even the 4 cities to get 5G services early will also get it partially. Not everyone in Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, and Mumbai who has a Jio number will experience 5G by Diwali. Jio 5G services will be accessible in some parts of the cities. For example, in the capital, Delhi Airport T3 is now 5G ready and promises 20 times faster connectivity for passengers.
