PM Modi Flags Off Dehradun to Delhi Vande Bharat Express, Promising Faster Travel Than Shatabdi

In a virtual ceremony today (May 25), Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off Uttarakhand’s first semi-high-speed Vande Bharat Express train, establishing a crucial link between Dehradun and the national capital, New Delhi. This new addition marks the sixth Vande Bharat route connecting Delhi to various destinations. Previously, Delhi was connected to Ajmer, Varanasi, Katra, Bhopal, and Amb Andaura through this remarkable train service.
First Vande Bharat of Uttarakhand
According to an official release from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the semi-high-speed train launching its first journey from Dehradun to Delhi’s Anand Vihar terminal is a significant milestone as it becomes India’s 18th Vande Bharat train and Uttarakhand’s very first. This remarkable train introduces a new era of comfortable travel experiences, particularly for tourists visiting the state, boasting world-class amenities. The train’s manufacturing is a proud testament to indigenous efforts, and it incorporates state-of-the-art safety features, including the innovative Kavach technology.
Delhi-Dehradun in 4 hours and 45 minutes
Starting from 29th May, the Delhi-Dehradun Vande Bharat Express will commence its regular operations. Spanning a distance of 302 km, this high-speed train will complete the journey in just 4 hours and 45 minutes. Operating on all days of the week except Wednesdays, it will provide a convenient and efficient mode of transportation for passengers between these two cities.

Delhi-Dehradun Vande Bharat Express departure and arrival
The train numbered 22457, originating from Anand Vihar railway station, is set to depart at 17:50 or 5:50 pm, reaching Dehradun at 22:35 or 10:35 pm. Recently, Odisha welcomed its inaugural Vande Bharat Express, operating between Puri and Howrah. The Howrah-Puri Vande Bharat Express was officially inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 18 via virtual mode, and it commenced its commercial services on May 20, enhancing connectivity between the two cities.
Timings and stoppages:
The state’s first Vande Bharat is scheduled to depart from Dehradun at 07:00 am and will reach Delhi’s Anand Vihar terminal at 11:45 am, while it would depart from Anand Vihar at 05:50 pm, and arrive at Dehradun by 10:35 pm. During the journey, it will stop at Meerut City, Muzaffarnagar, Saharanpur, Roorkee, and Haridwar.
