Silky Beginnings: Nayab Stores Pvt. Ltd.
The business ecosystem in India helps new startups flourish immensely, but it’s also a fact that entrepreneurship comes with great challenges. It is projected that there will be over 11,500 startups by 2020 and that will change the way markets are working today in India. Despite its growing economy, however, only few of the huge number of entrepreneurshipsin India grow roots and prosper. The journey to the top has never been easy. The startups that show promise and achieve success, sometimes in exceptionally short periods of time, therefore deserve mention and appreciation.
A newly-emerged enterprise, Nayab Stores, is a big name in a small town, that of Bhagalpur, Bihar. The startup is a favorite of its customers for its collection of beautiful Bhagalpuri Silk Sarees and Bhagalpuri Linen Sarees that it manufactures and sells of high quality at reasonable prices.
The company was set up by the efforts of the dynamic duo, Ms. Anand Mayee and her mother, Mrs. Leena Dubey. Ms. Anand has always thought out-of-the-box, and been competitive and strong-willed. In their year-long journey, the directors of Nayab Stores have had to face many hurdles. From Ms. Anand Mayee losing her father just after the inception of the company, to taking a stand in the male-dominated textile industry against all odds, the mother-daughter duo overcame every obstacle and kept their business going.
Ms. Anand has been featured for her diligence and hard work in setting up and running the business in one of the most renowned newspapers in Bihar, Prabhat Khabar. She is also being noted as an example of women empowerment, after facing the struggle to kick start a company on her own being a woman.
She has also been invited by Franchise India in Delhi, as a delegate to understand the context of business. The Delhi Association of Management invited Nayab Stores to exhibit their Sarees at their expo.
Overcoming the highs and lows of life, she stumbled upon the idea of establishing Nayab Stores almost by accident. She modeled for a distant relative in Bhagalpuri Saree when working as a school teacher, and from there began her research on the business prospects of Bhagalpuri silk industry.
With an aim to restore the name of Bhagalpuri Silk and Linen sarees, the startup began its journey in May, 2018. In just one year after the establishment of their business, Nayab Stores has made quite a name for itself. The directors of the company aspire to become a globally recognized brand in the textile industry, especially in the manufacture of Bhagalpuri Sarees.

They also customize the sarees according to the needs of the customers: be it a different color or a different embroidery or a particular print design.
