National Cinema Day, a highly anticipated event for moviegoers, is set to make a grand return on October 13, 2023. The Multiplex Association of India (MAI) and various cinemas across the country are gearing up to celebrate this special occasion. As part of the festivities, movie tickets will be available for as low as Rs 99, encouraging more people to experience the magic of the silver screen. It’s worth noting that this reduced pricing will not apply to premium formats like 4DX and IMAX.

Over 4,000 Screens Participating Nationwide

Cinema enthusiasts across India are in for a treat, as over 4,000 screens will participate in National Cinema Day on October 13, 2023. This includes well-known chains such as PVR, Inox, Cinepolis, Miraj, Citypride, Asian, Mukta A2, Movie Time, WAVE, M2K, Delite, and many more. The goal of this initiative is to enhance the overall cinema experience and increase attendance at movie theaters by offering tickets at the highly affordable price of Rs 99.

The Multiplex Association of India shared the exciting news via their official social media platform, X (formerly known as Twitter). In their tweet, they stated, “National Cinema Day is back on October 13th. Join us at over 4000+ screens across India for an incredible cinematic experience, with movie tickets priced at just Rs. 99. It’s the perfect day to enjoy your favorite films with friends and family (sic).”

Reflecting on National Cinema Day 2022

Looking back at the previous National Cinema Day in 2022, the event drew an impressive attendance of more than 65 lakh moviegoers, making it the most well-attended day of the year for cinemas. Many shows were sold out, and “houseful” signs returned to ticket counters. This resounding success led the Association to continue experimenting with low-priced ticket models.

In 2022, tickets were offered at a price of Rs 75, and the collections reached approximately Rs 48 crore across films in various languages. Notably, the mystery thriller ‘Chup: Revenge of the Artist’ earned around Rs 2.75-3 crore on its opening day, while the superhero flick ‘Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva,’ featuring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, raked in an impressive Rs 8.50 crore.

High Expectations for 2023: “Jawan” and More

This year, there is much anticipation surrounding the potential successes during the National Cinema Day celebrations. The latest blockbuster “Jawan” is expected to benefit from the weekend in mid-October. Starring Shah Rukh Khan, Nayanthara, and Vijay Sethupathi in lead roles, “Jawan” is likely to be a major attraction for moviegoers on this special day.

As October 13, 2023 approaches, Indian cinema lovers can look forward to a memorable cinematic experience at an unbeatable price of Rs 99. National Cinema Day promises to be a day filled with entertainment, excitement, and shared moments with friends and family.
