In a significant disclosure, a high-ranking police official has verified that Vikas Malu, an industrialist and director at Kuber Group, was among the trio present in the Rolls-Royce that collided with a petrol tanker at a considerable speed. Mr. Malu is currently receiving medical treatment at a hospital in Gurugram.
Tragedy struck on the New Delhi-Mumbai expressway in Nuh on Tuesday (August 24), as two out of three individuals within the tanker, namely the driver and his assistant, lost their lives due to the collision with the Rolls-Royce Phantom. All occupants of the car, except for the driver, were admitted to hospitals. The Nuh Superintendent of Police, Narendra Bijaraniya, spoke exclusively to the media and revealed that an FIR has been filed at the Nagina police station, with an ongoing investigation.
When questioned about Vikas Malu’s condition post-accident, Mr. Bijaraniya conveyed that Mr. Malu is currently admitted to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram, undergoing necessary medical procedures.
The officer was also asked if the individual involved was indeed the same Vikas Malu associated with the Kuber Group, to which he affirmed.
Continuing his statement, the SP informed that both Rolls-Royce’s driver and the other passenger, receiving treatment alongside Mr. Malu at Medanta Hospital, will be included in the investigative process once they are discharged. The formal statement from Mr. Malu will be documented once he leaves the hospital.
Highlighting the surveillance infrastructure along the expressway, the officer mentioned the extensive coverage by CCTV cameras. He disclosed that the truck had executed a U-turn on the highway, while the Rolls-Royce Phantom was traveling at an exceptionally high velocity during the accident. Specifics regarding the car’s precise speed will only be ascertainable after a scientific examination.

Notably, media sources also managed to locate Gautam, the third individual within the tanker. Gautam is presently recuperating at his residence in Ujina, Haryana, from the injuries sustained during the incident. Sitting adjacent to the driver and assistant, he revealed that the truck was in the process of making a U-turn when the Rolls-Royce struck. Despite his injuries affecting his speech, Gautam estimated the Phantom’s speed to be around 190 km/hr, resulting in the truck’s overturning. He attributed the accident to the car driver’s negligence.
Visual evidence from the site displayed the severely damaged state of the Rolls-Royce Phantom, which holds a value of over INR 10 crore. The car’s front end was extensively distorted, the engine caught fire, and the doors remained ajar. The condition of the truck was even worse, reduced to a mass of metal due to the subsequent blaze.
