6 killed after 6.3 magnitude earthquake hits Nepal; tremors felt in Delhi-NCR
At least six people were killed and five others injured when a powerful 6.3-magnitude earthquake struck west Nepal early on November 9, authorities said. Tremors were also felt in some parts of Delhi-NCR region.
“At least six people were killed and five injured and are being taken to hospital. Dozens of houses have been damaged by landslides at various places across the district,” authorities said.
Nepal has mobilized its army to carry out search and rescue operations in the most affected areas. The severe tremors lasted for nearly 10 seconds and were reported from Noida and Gurugram as well. According to the National Seismological Centre, earthquake occurred at 2.12 a.m. and its epicenter was in Khaptad National Park in Doti district.The depth of the earthquake was about 10 km.

Nepal experienced three earthquakes in the last five hours. As per data from National Center for Seismology, Nepal registered the first earthquake of 4.9 magnitude at 8.52 pm on Tuesday (November 8), followed by 3.5 magnitude at 9.41 pm. The third earthquake of 6.3 magnitude hit the country at 1.57 am on Wednesday (November 9), tremors of which were felt in Delhi.
Along with Delhi-NCR, strong tremors of earthquake were felt in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Haryana, and Madhya Pradesh. Mild tremors of earthquake were felt again at 6.27 am in Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand. The magnitude of the earthquake was measured at 4.3 on the Richter scale. However, there is no report of any casualty in India due to the earthquake.
6.3 magnitude earthquake hits Nepal
According to the National Center for Seismology, from 4:37 am on 8 November to 6:27 am on 9 November, North India felt 3 tremors of earthquake. In this, the tremors of the strongest earthquake were felt at 01:57 AM. Its center was in Nepal. This center was just 90 km from Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand. After this, there was an earthquake again in the morning, the center of which remained Pithoragarh. When the earthquake struck Delhi-NCR, most people were sleeping. Those who came to know immediately left the house.
Recently, an earthquake of magnitude 4.5 struck Uttarakhand on 6 November, with its epicenter 17 km east-southeast of Uttarkashi.
