Commonwealth Games 2022 updates: India’s medal tally rises to six with three gold
Indian athletes are doing well in the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham. Riding off a successful outing on 30 July, India managed to add more medals to the tally on Sunday (July 31). Achinta Sheuli and Jeremy Lalrinnunga won gold in weightlifting and wrote their name in history by making a CWG record in snatch and in total kgs lifted.
World champion boxer Nikhat Zareen, the Indian women’s cricket team, and the Indian men’s hockey team all won their respective matches. The Indian team is now ranked sixth, just behind Canada, which has won more silver medals than India but has the same number of gold medals.

- Men’s 100m Backstroke-Final: Srihari Nataraj (India) finished 7th
- Men’s 200m Freestyle: Kushagra Rawat finishes eighth in Heat 3 with a time of 1:54.56

- India finish 5th as a team with a combined score of 102.650. Pranati Nayak and Ruthuja Nataraj finished the 4 apparatus. Just the vault for Protistha Samanta where she gets a total of 11.950

- Men’s Marathon: Nitendra Singh Rawat posts 2:19.22 to finish 12th
