Singer KK passes away: Police register ‘Unnatural Death’ case; autopsy to be conducted today

Playback singer Krishnakumar Kunath, popularly known as KK, passed away in Kolkata late on Tuesday night (May 31). At that time, he was 53 years old. The musician is said to have died after falling ill while performing at an event at Gurudas College in the city’s Nazrul Manch.
The 53-year-old musician complained of chest congestion when he returned to his hotel room after the show on Tuesday. He was rushed to the city’s CMRI hospital, where he was declared “brought dead.” However, Kolkata Police registered a case of unnatural death on Wednesday (June 1). A case has been registered at the New Market police station. According to reports, he has injury marks on his face and head. The police will also talk to the hotel staff and the organizers of the event.
At the city’s CMRI hospital, the late singer was declared brought dead. The playback singer’s autopsy will take place today at SSKM Hospital. According to the police, interrogation and post-mortem will be done after the consent of the family and the process of identification of the body. KK’s body will be handed over to the family after the postmortem. An investigation into the matter is currently underway. The preliminary postmortem report is currently being awaited by the investigators.
Meanwhile, KK’s family has been notified, and they are likely to arrive in Kolkata on Wednesday, according to Arup Biswas, West Bengal Sports, and Youth Affairs Minister. Meanwhile, KK’s death has shocked everyone, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who expressed his sadness over the singer’s premature death.

KK got his break as a playback singer with A R Rahman’s hit songs ‘Hello Doctor’ and ‘Kalluri Saaley’. He began his Bollywood career by singing a small portion of Gulzar’s Maachis’ ‘Chhod Aaye Hum.’ However, the enormously popular ‘Tadap tadap ke’ from Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam in 1999 was his first full-fledged Bollywood song.
