India’s Sargam Koushal wins Mrs. World 2022 title to end 21-year drought

Sargam Koushal, a woman from Jammu representing India, was on Sunday (December 19) crowned Mrs. World at a ceremony in Las Vegas, USA. Koushal defeated competitors from 63 countries to bring the title back to India after 21 years.
The official Instagram account of the Mrs. India pageant shared pictures of a jubilant Koushal after her historic win. “The long wait is over, after 21 years we have The Crown back!” read the caption.

Koushal defeated Mrs. Polynesia to secure the title. For the grand finale, Koushal wore a sleek and elegant pink sleeveless gown studded with sequins. Designed by Bhavana Rao, the gown complimented Koushal ‘s toned silhouette perfectly.
The last time an Indian won the title of Mrs. World was in 2001. Dr. Aditi Govitrikar was crowned Mrs. World and has served as a judge for Mrs. India Inc. 2022-23. Aditi Govitrikar also congratulated Mrs. Koushal on this victory. “Hearty congrats @sargam3 @mrsindiainc so happy to be a part of the journey. It was time the Taj came back after 21 years,” Govitrikar wrote.
Let us tell you that Mrs. World is the first such beauty pageant in the world, which has been made for married women. It started in 1984. Earlier its name was Mrs. America, which was later changed to Mrs. Woman of the World. In the year 1988, it was named Mrs. World. The first woman to win the Mrs. World title was Rosy Senanayake of Sri Lanka.
Who Is Sargam Koushal?
Sargam Koushal, 32, a resident of Jammu and Kashmir, has done her post-graduation in English Literature. Sargam has also worked as a teacher in Visakhapatnam. Sargam is married to Aditya Manohar Sharma, Lieutenant Commander in the Indian Navy. Sargam is doing modeling since the year 2018. In June this year, she was crowned Mrs. India 2022. She was selected from among 51 contestants from across the country. Now she participated in Mrs. World 2022 and won the crown.
