QS World University Rankings 2024: Top 30 Universities Worldwide
Written by Sanjay Kumar
QS Rankings 2024 have been released, revealing Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) as the top-ranked university for the 12th consecutive year. The University of Cambridge has managed to maintain its position in second place, while the University of Oxford has replaced Stanford University and now holds the third spot.
The QS World University Rankings are conducted by Quacquarelli Symonds, a global higher education analyst specialist. These rankings encompass 1,500 institutions across 104 locations and utilize data from 17.5 million academic papers, along with information from 240,000 academic faculty members and employers.
In a blog post, QS Rankings stated, “This 20th edition of our rankings comes at a time when priorities in higher education are evolving. QS sits in the privileged position of being a nexus point in the higher education sector – connected to millions of students, hundreds of thousands of academics and employers, and thousands of institutions worldwide.”
The QS Rankings 2024 introduced significant changes to the methodology, resulting in fluctuations in university rankings this year. The rankings now incorporate three new metrics: Sustainability, Employment Outcomes, and International Research Network.
Once again, American universities dominated the QS rankings, claiming half of the positions in the top 20. However, the National University of Singapore (NUS) made notable progress by moving up three places from last year and securing the 8th position this year. NUS is the only Asian university to break into the top 10.
