Often, when the senior management team travels in field, they get more insights than merely what is in the scope or objectives of the study. They get different perspectives and things that boardroom discussions wouldn’t anticipate. Recently our Managing Director – Priyanka Mallick, visited a rural village in Andhra Pradesh which taught her an interesting market research insight into how rice farmers, who were traditionally considered a TV and cinema-consuming audience, are moving to watch the same shows (which come on TV) on YouTube. The shows remain the same, but media consumption has changed in the last few years. The enormous TV spends hence can be better rationalized on multiple other media.
