Instagram brings new features, expands Reels duration to 90 seconds
Instagram is now allowing users to record reels for 90 seconds, which was earlier limited to 60 seconds. Reels was launched almost two years ago, when TikTok was banned in India, and since then, this is the first time that` Instagram has extended the time frame for its short video platform Reels.
Instagram has also added several other features, such as interactive stickers, templates, fresh sound effects, and the ability to import your own audio. The latest update with new features is available for both iOS and Android. Users can simply head on to their respective play stores to install the update.

Since the launch of Reels in India, the photo-sharing platform has seen many changes to improve the overall user experience. Instagram is attempting to make Reels more friendly than ever before by adding these features. Instagram is adding these functionalities amid news of ByteDance working with partners to bring TikTok back to the country. The company hasn’t revealed any official details yet.
In a blog post, the company stated, “You will have more time to reveal more about yourself, record more, dig deeper into the nuances of your content, or whatever else you want to do with that extra time.” Users may now import their music directly in Instagram Reels, according to Instagram.
“Use the import audio tool to add commentary or background noise from any video on your camera roll that is at least five seconds long,” the company explained. “Make sure you like how your voice sounds in the recording because it may be used in other people’s reels!” it continued. A new feature allows creators to poll their audience about what should happen in their next video, so that they can help shape the storyline themselves.
Instagram introduced a new alert function called Amber Alert earlier this week, which lets users read and post reports of missing children in their area. The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) in the United States, the International Centre for Missing & Exploited Children, the National Crime Agency in the United Kingdom, the Attorney General’s Office in Mexico, the Australian Federal Police, and others collaborated on the Amber alert tool, according to the company.
