Spearheading as the President, Michael A Collura is the man behind one of the leaders in non-medical senior care, embarking on a successful journey to deliver care to countless seniors and their families. A hands-on entrepreneur and leader armed with strong business development and marketing skills; Michael initiated his professional endeavor at a nursing home in 1990.
What amazed him was the way society cared for those that have for a generation meant everything to them. The fascination of always desiring to become a part of their lives and to ensure that as they aged, their golden years be filled with life, independence, joy, and security is the cornerstone of commencing In Home Personal Services.
Today, the organization is touching the sky of success because of the excellent supervision of the astute leader, Michael. He has been the backbone, where his entire life, both as a senior and when he began his journey, has been the same. Under his hegemony, Michael brings that lifestyle and choices that continue to develop In Home Personal Services today.
Talking about his achievements and accomplishments, the visionary stated – “Simply defined as our genuine desire to care for those that choose and trust us to be a quality and compassionate provider. All the recognition, awards, and honors we have ever had bestowed upon us mean nothing if we fail as a provider for the care that we are known for. The greatest achievement is in the decades-long and thousands of clients that have trusted us and we delivered on the promises made.”
THE TALE OF IN HOME’S INCEPTION
A desire to do more and help others. The inception story behind In Home Personal Services dates back to the early 1990s when Founder Michael Collura worked in his first job at a nursing home. There and through the years the mission and desire to provide quality care and make an impact in the lives of others was growing. In 2004 the brand was first created and developed to be a different kind of company and senior care provider. Looking at what mattered the most and why the need for truly compassionate quality care was needed, that is how the business began. A strong desire and passion to help others…
THE LEADERSHIP STYLE, THE NAME OF THE GAME
When asked about his leadership style, Michael said, “My “style” is summed up best by a leadership style that is often viewed as different. I embrace this about myself and while someone will always have their own perception of me, I work to be my best version of myself and to be the least important factor in the brand. Leadership is about elevating those around you to be better than yourself, better than they imagined, and ultimately replace you. If I am useless today, I succeeded in my mission because look where we are now and ask yourself, if he thinks he is useless then how was this all achieved. I will answer; it was never me; it was the team.”
SURMOUNTING ENTREPRENEURIAL HICCUPS
Achieving such a spectacular feat and becoming the leader when it comes to care at the comfort of home was full of challenges. For Michael, as a leader, it was a challenge to do what was right and not to think about pleasing everyone. Pulling off the impossible decisions at the right time while even not knowing, making mistakes, and realizing that at the end of the day, they, as a unit, have to overcome it. Without the team, all the hard work goes in vain. This journey has not been a cakewalk, there were a lot of hurdles on the way. But Michael believes that to shine brighter and see the days of success, coping up with failure is necessary.
THE ENTREPRENEURIAL STREAK
It’s about leadership, compassion, and a genuine desire to help others. The journey is about doing what is right, no matter the criticism. Entrepreneurs see a problem and devise a solution. A business creates to make a profit, we deliver care. Being a care provider is not and should not be about profits. The journey of In Home Personal Services, while a profitable organization, was built first and foremost to help others. It continues in its principal mission today.

The way the In Home team impacts the lives of others they care for, their families, the healthcare system as a whole, the team, and our own families. Multiply that by volume, compassion, and time and we feel as if we have painted the skies to create the stars shining bright with all the wonder we have brought to the world.”
WHAT’S NEXT FOR IN HOME?
Since 2004, In Home has been relentlessly working towards providing human service with a never-ending pursuit of excellence and continuing to achieve milestones. It is expanding across the United States at a record pace. The size of the franchise system has already doubled since this time last year. Now, the organization is focusing on hiring more candidates to grow the team, expanding its caregiver network.
